Living With Crohns

Man…never been sick in my life then get hit with one of the worst diseases to have..ever! Then most people don’t even know about it. I heard about Crohn’s through all the tv commercials, but I never paid attention.

So I fall out after riding a rollercoaster down at Busch Gardens. Stayed in the hospital 3days with signs of having a heart attack. Now that I’ve thought about it, it was just a terrible panic attack. They did a heart cath, and the incision point caught an infection. So they gave me some antibiotics. Right after the course of antibiotics, I started having stomach issues. The issues turned into severe pain, and the rest is history.

So now I have Crohns…for you who don’t know what it is. Its an autoimmune disease where my immune system is attacking my GI system. My body is killing itself from the inside out.  And recently I found out it attacks the eyes too..so there you have it..I can go blind to. But the medications that they have for this diseases would kill you before this diseases will. Some terrible side effects..matter of fact, many of the symptoms of Crohn’s are caused by the meds. So it’s like die if you don’t take these fucked up meds, and die even faster from some other problem you’ve gained from taking the Crohn’s meds.

I had to do a lot of research to find out exactly what Crohn’s was. And its plenty of people who are having surgeries where they remove feet of intestines, remove the entire colon, all kinds of terrible shit. But I feel blessed and somewhat lucky.

I’ve been able to control my disease. The goal was to get it under control so I wouldn’t have to resort to Humira or some of those Crohn’s drugs that cause severe more issues. And by a controlled diet, less stress, alternative meds, I’ve been able to get the disease on the fence of remission. If you are anybody you know have this disease, tell your story here.
